Position Summary

The Marcus Whitman Central School District seeks a dynamic, student-centered leader to serve as Director of Athletics and Student Services. The primary responsibility of this position is leadership of the district's interscholastic athletic program. In addition, the Director will provide administrative and student support services across the district as needed and as designated by the Superintendent of Schools. This is a district-level leadership position offering the opportunity to shape both a competitive, character-driven athletic program and the broader student experience at Marcus Whitman.

Primary Responsibilities: Athletics

The Director will provide leadership, supervision, and management of all aspects of the district's interscholastic athletic program, including but not limited to:

• Scheduling of contests, officials, transportation, and facilities for all athletic teams

• Recruitment, recommendation, supervision, and evaluation of coaching staff in accordance with Commissioner's Regulations (8 NYCRR 135.4) and district policy

• Ensuring compliance with NYSPHSAA, Section V, and league rules, including eligibility, classification, and sportsmanship standards

• Oversight of Athletic Placement Process (APP) procedures

• Management of the athletic budget, equipment, uniforms, and inventory

• Coordination of required coaching certifications, first aid, CPR/AED, and Concussion Management compliance

• Implementation of the district's Cardiac Emergency Response Plan as it pertains to athletic facilities and events

• Supervision of home athletic contests and events

• Communication with student-athletes, families, coaches, and the community regarding the athletic program

• Promotion of a positive, inclusive athletic culture aligned with the district's mission

Additional Responsibilities: Administrative and Student Support

As designated by the Superintendent of Schools, the Director will provide administrative and student support services, which may include but are not limited to:

• Student supervision, attendance, and discipline support

• Support for district health, safety, and emergency planning initiatives

• Participation in district-level committees, planning teams, and special projects

• Support for building administration during the school day as needed

• Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools

MWCSD is looking to fill vacancies for Food Service Helper.  One position is six hours and another position is four hours for the 2026-27 school year.

Applicants need to complete the Yates County Civil Service application.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:  

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Under the general supervision of the applicable supervisor the incumbent of this position routinely assists in the preparation, cooking and serving of a variety of foods in large quantities for us in a nutritional program. The work involves responsibility for the preparation and service of food and the cleaning of kitchen equipment. Does related work as required. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only) Assists in loading food trays on carts; Follows standardized recipes for accurate food preparation; Receives and inspects food to be cooked; Assists in preparation, cooking, and serving of food in large quantities; Cleans refrigerators, coolers, dishwashers and other kitchen equipment; Cleans work area; Sweeps, mops and cleans the kitchen, serving area, dish room and other applicable areas; Cleans dining rooms and wipes off tables; Washes dishes, pots and pans by hand or uses the dishwasher; May receive stock items and put them in proper place when necessary; Prepares simple foods such as sandwiches, salads, soup and a variety of other food; Performs other duties as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:  

The work involves responsibility for relieving school teachers of that part of their duties, which while related to the teaching process, can be performed by non-professional personnel. The duties and responsibilities may vary at different grade levels. The work is performed under the general supervision of the School Principal or a member of the teaching staff. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only)

Assists Teachers in the correction of test papers, recording of grades, maintaining files and preparing statistical reports;

Occasionally oversees class when Teacher is out of room;

Assists Teachers with study hall, corridor, lunchroom and other monitorial duties;

Assists students in operating computers and other electronic equipment;

Assists Teachers and students in the operation of mechanical and technical equipment;

Under supervision of a Teacher, assists disabled students to master basic skills and obtain knowledge in prescribed subjects;

Fills out, copies, types or dittos forms, reports and stencils from various rough drafts;

Assists in routine classroom housekeeping chores;

Organizes and participates in group games and related activities;

Assists Teachers and students in selecting supplementary materials from the library;

May be assigned to assists disabled students take notes, gather books, etc.;

May correct standardized and objective tests.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is routine work of ordinary difficulty involving 
responsibility for overseeing the loading and unloading of student passengers, assisting the driver 
in maintaining order and for ad­ ministering to their needs, comfort and conduct while in transit 
on regularly scheduled bus trips to and from school. Supervision is exercised over the conduct of 
student passengers as required. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)

Rides on a school bus for the purpose of assisting pupils to climb aboard and alight from bus;
Seats and places student passengers as required;
May operate a lift to load and unload handicapped student passengers and secures restraint devices 
and wheel chair locks;
Maintains order on bus and makes certain that student passengers are seated while bus is in motion;
Prepares written reports;
Meets with parents, head bus driver and school officials when necessary; Assists students and 
drivers as needed.

incumbent of this class may also act as lunchroom cashier. Direct supervision is
received from a Cook. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only)
Assists in or prepares simple foods such as desserts and salads at the request of
Cook; Assembles and breaks down hot and cold food packing lines; May assist in portioning and packing prepared food as scheduled; Sets tables for meals and cleans them after meals; Heats and serves food to students and employees; Cleans refrigerators, coolers, dishwashers and other kitchen equipment; Cleans work area; Washes dishes, pots and pans by hand or uses the dishwasher; May receive stock items and put them in proper place when necessary; May act as lunchroom cashier.
